Healthy Snack Ideas

Snacks can be anything satisfying to you. They can generally be limited in calories, helping you control hunger between meals. Aim for snacks to be around an average of 150 calories each.

  • 1 String cheese
  • Tree nuts like walnuts, almonds, hazelnuts
  • Pumpkin seeds
  • Rye melba rounds (6) with 2-4 TBSP hummus
  • Handful of raisins and peanuts or cashews (about 1 mini-box of raisins and 1 oz. of the nuts)
  • Small portions of dried fruit
  • 1-2 TBSP Smuckers reduced fat natural peanut butter and 1 apple or 5 crackers
  • 1 fruit and 1 string cheese pr small serving of cheese (low-fat, if possible)
  • Trail mix: cheerios or low fat granola with nuts, seeds, and a little dried fruit
  • ½ cup of cottage cheese and 1 fruit (15 grapes, 12 cherries, 1 orange, ¾ cup canned pineapple (drained).
  • ¼ to ½ cup southern salsa (with beans) and 15 baked corn/tortilla chips
  • 1 cup/mug of non-sugary cereal like Cheerios, Mini-wheats or Kashi and low fat milk
  • Popcorn cakes or rice cakes
  • ½ English muffin pizza
  • 1 Bagel Bite and topping
  • 15 pretzel twists
  • 3 cups of microwave light popcorn
  • 1 Nutrigrain bar
